This retreat builds on our February 2024 retreat content. It includes many of the same sessions, but optimized.

You’re invited to hone your craft, get some writing done, and connect with other Arizona writers at this interactive, welcoming retreat where you’ll explore:

  • How you can write with more confidence  

You’ll leave inspired and equipped to push your creativity — and word counts — further and faster. The day’s sessions, led by published local authors, are filled with easy-to-implement tips and practical suggestions.

  • Author Mary Cornelius

    Mary Cornelius

    Mary’s an avid blogger about the pros, cons, and quirks of multi-family living. She also co-hosts the Metro Phoenix Shut Up & Write® group, where she leads discussions and exercises that help area writers hold themselves accountable and spread their wings. Follow her at corneliusblogs.com

  • Author Donna Parker

    Donna Parker

    Donna is a veritable go-to for all things grammar, structure, and plot. A kind soul with an eye for precise writing, she’s been an editor for 20+ years and regularly helps Arizona authors up their writing skills. Also in the works: Donna’s first speculative fiction novel is in editing phase and moving to beta read soon!

    Alan Norris

    Alan’s philosophy is Live what you love. That was the impetus for his 2,650 mile backpack adventure on the Pacific Crest Trail. His non-fiction account is in the works! An SU&W regular and Toastmaster pro, Alan’s 30+ years in business saw him give speeches to groups of all sizes.

His current project: a novel set in 1900 in Nebraska.

FAQs

  • Registration costs $45 per person, total.

  • 30 spaces are available for the Saturday, September, 21 2024 retreat.

  • In the Community Center at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church located at 3101 West Cholla, Phoenix 85029

    The location is spacious and offers ample parking and free Wi-Fi.

  • A refund will be issued if you cancel before midnight, Sept. 7, 2024. This is 14 days prior to the event. A $10 processing fee will be charged for refunds.

    If you cancel within 14 days of the retreat, you will be issued a credit that can be used toward a future Phoenix Oasis Press event or program.

  • This retreat is designed to help writers of all genres and all writing levels.

    The schedule is filled with guided exercises and workshops to help you, wherever you are on your journey.

  • Phoenix Oasis Press aims to offer low and no-cost events. Add to this dietary restrictions, and things can get complicated — and costly.

    To keep costs down, we appreciate you bringing whatever it is that most fuels your creativity.

    Fridge space is available.

    Coffee and coffee mugs along with water will be provided.

    Reusable water containers highly encouraged!
