POP’S Transformation - WRITING CHAMPIONS WANTED

Champion
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
– Helen Keller (blogspot quotes)

POP (Phoenix Oasis Press LLC) is undergoing a transformation: new team, new vision, new mission, new logo, and new ways to support and spotlight Arizona writers.  Watch for details in early September.

In the meantime, we’re looking for writing champions.

WHAT’S A WRITING CHAMPION?

A POP writing champion is a writer willing to help other writers.  You don’t need to be an expert to be a champion. Just be curious and willing to help. Perhaps:

Have an idea for something that’s not on this list?  Tell us about it; we’d love to help you make it happen. (Our contact info appears at the end of this post.)

BECOME A CHAMPION – ask, answer, decide, do

Ask Yourself

  • What writing ideas and resources have helped me?

  • What writing-related ideas am I passionate about?

  • What writing-related topics do I want to learn more about?

Use Your Answers as a Springboard

Once you’ve decided what you want to share or what you want to learn and then share, decide how you’ll do it. Maybe:

  1. Volunteer for the POP advisory team (attend monthly Zoom meetings).

  2. Write a POP blog post.  Perhaps about one of these:

    1. The craft of writing (grammar, sentences, genre tips)

    2. Business challenges of being a writer.

    3. Helpful lessons you’ve learned along your writer’s journey.

    4. Writing resources you’ve found useful.

    5. Review a writing-related resource (a book, a website, a blog, etc...)

    6. Create a theme-based list of books for writers.

    7. Share a writing-related problem & solution.

  3. Partner with another writer to create and deliver a mini-writing workshop through one or more of our channels: Metro Phoenix SU&W, Phoenix Oasis Press (POP), or The Business of Authorship (this new group begins in October – watch for details).

Decide

Writing matters.  Being a writer willing to help other writers matters too!  Decide what you want to share.  Then…

Do It
