We’re seven months into planning the 2023 anthology Beyond Boundaries: Tales of Transcendence.

To date, we’ve: 

• Held eight production team meetings

• Established Phoenix Oasis Press (POP) as an LLC

• Researched award submission opportunities

• Conducted four writing workshops for prospective anthology writers

• Held a day long writers retreat

•  Set up a Mailchimp account for anthology writers

• Created a website Phoenix Oasis Press (POP)

Now we’re excited, scared, and anxious:

• Excited the submission period is open (01/01/23 – 01/31/23). 

• Scared as we wonder: Will we receive enough material? Will we be overwhelmed with submissions? 

• Anxious as we contemplate the work ahead: 

  • Verify each submission meets the guidelines

  • Read and evaluate each submission

  • Convert submissions into a book-ready manuscript

  • Design a cover

  • Make the book available in print and eBook formats

  • Market the book

  • Plan a launch celebration

It took a year to produce our first anthology Roots, Shoots, and Blooms. We know we can create another, but we don’t know what we’ll have to work with. It feels like the moment in the Wizard of Oz movie when Dorothy braved the Haunted Forest saying, “Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh my!”
