BLK WRDS - A creative writing workshop celebrating Black voices

  • Grassrootz Bookstore & Juice Bar 1145 East Washington Street Phoenix, AZ, 85034 United States (map)

Inspiration in Every Word, Creativity in Every Moment. Join us for BLK WRDS — a free, in-person, interactive workshop designed to spark your imagination through prompts inspired by Black writers, poets, and songwriters.

Whether you’re an experienced writer or just starting out, this event provides a space to create, connect, and celebrate Black literary and musical artistry.

At this interactive workshop you’ll:

  • Use curated prompts from Black authors, poets, and lyricists to inspire your writing.

  • Browse a library of works by Black writers and musicians for additional inspiration.

  • Create in a supportive space alongside fellow creatives.

  • Share your work aloud (if you feel comfortable) or read your favorite song lyrics, poem, or passage as a tribute to Black voices.
